jotter-journal: 3 caged Amur tigers kill white tiger cub (Graphic image) TigerTime General JUL 12 On Monday in Shendiao Mountain Wildlife Park in East China, 3 Amur tigers killed a white tiger cub. Eye witnesses are stating that the tigers were not being fed enough with one visitor saying ‘we couldn’t see any meat anywhere and they looked like they were hungry.It was shocking.’ Another onlooker commented ‘some tourists informed the park’s staff, and it took about 10 minutes for the staff to get to the spot and drive away the tigers.’ The park officials issued a statement with a completely different view, which said that the tiger cub was killed due to ‘excessive frolic.’ The park deny the claims that the tigers are underfed stating ‘each sub-adult tiger is provided with a standard meal of 2 kg of beef, 0.5 kg of chicken neck and bones and eggs and cod liver oil to meet their needs.’ The park manager went on to explain that the Amur tigers and the white tiger had been raised in the same zone, but the white tiger was given dog milk, whereas the Amur tigers were breast fed. This he claims made the white tiger ‘lack savagery.’ The park has since said that they will now raise different species in separate zones of the park. A team has been sent from the provincial forestry department to investigate the case and an official report will soon be released.
